While I do like this product, it was a little harder to use than I had thought. It takes some time to get it just right so you aren't trying to slice too close to the rind and also it was harder to pull out than I had thought it would be. However, with all that said...it was well worth the price and was much neater to slice. It also preserved more of the juice in the pineapple and what was left you can drink with a straw!It does slice the pineapple into thin slices so if you want to have thicker slices or chunky you have to cut it up with a knife. I used my Vacu Vin about three times before the handle broke off, and contacted the company through their website about a replacement handle. After two weeks I received no response and emailed them a second time.
This time I received a hasty response as follows, "I have responded back to you 2 weeks ago and told you that we do not have extra pineapple slicer handles nor do we offer a warranty on this item."
As far as the three times that I was able to use the slicer, it sometimes worked nicely, and sometimes mangled the pineapple. There was always a lot of wasted fruit with this device since it is made to accommodate smaller pineapples as well as larger.
Save your money on this uni-tasker and practice your knife skills.

This is the 2nd Vacu Vin Pineapple Easy Slicer I have purchased! I love using it, and benefit from having a healthy dessert option easily available to me when ever I choose to slice up a pineapple instead of some "bad" stuff.
I bought this version because it has 3 size options, providing for variations in pineapple sizes. My friends love it too! Great for snacks,baking uses and drinks. If your pineapple is a bit overripe it may cut some mushy slices, but for fast prep and eating it still makes a previously annoying chore fun!

This thing is seriously the best invention EVER for pineapples. I had some concern with the quality of it (since it's plastic), but it cuts through tough pineapples with no problem at all. You just barely press down and twist and it creates perfect circular slices! Most pineapples will use the medium slicer, but if you want to really get the most out of the pineapple you can use the large. I would say that you don't really need the two additional slicer sizes, but I am sure they will come in handy one day
There are two problems that I have with it, however. First, it still gets messy because a lot of juice comes up and spills over the flat top, so you still need to do this over a sink or something (but it is easy to hold the pineapple with one hand and twist the slicer with the other). Second, I would suggest to picture how deep you need to go by holding the slicer up to the pineapple before you start cutting. The slicer cuts through the first couple of inches with no problem at all, then towards the bottom it gets tougher. It takes awhile to figure out just how far down you need to go to avoid poking a hole through the bottom or leaving too much uncut pineapple at the bottom.
All in all, it is one of my favorite kitchen utensils. I bought several more to give away as presents as well.
